Railway Carriage Self-Catering Holidays...

An unmissable experience - An unmissable experience - possibly the next best thing to The Orient Express
The carriage has been very tastefully converted to provide a very high standard of accommodation while still retaining the charms of its origin. The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms each with an en-suite shower, toilet and wash-hand basin, a two-berth children's bunk room, comfortable lounge area and well equipped galley kitchen. There is also a utility area with a fridge-freezer and a washing machine. The carriage benefits from a full gas central heating system which not only ensures a cosy atmosphere, but also an endless supply of hot water.

Luxury and nostalgia

Enjoy the luxury and nostalgia of a self-catering holiday in a converted railway carriage located on a siding at the former Bridge of Dee Station near Castle Douglas. Closed in 1947, the station was on the Castle Douglas to Kirkcudbright branch line which continued until 1965 - Read more.

Superb views
The track for the carriage is in a cutting which makes the large grassy garden area sheltered and private and an ideal children's play area. Around the carriage is a 60 sq metre deck area which benefits from superb views out over the surrounding Galloway countryside. The carriage makes an ideal base from which to explore this unspoilt and relatively undiscovered part of Scotland.
